On-Location Family Photoshoot in Bridlington, East Yorkshire

It was a lovely December afternoon with Emily and her lovely family in Sewerby, Bridlington. Their two boys were very excited to explore the woodland area in the hopes to find the Grinch and his elves! It was a very festive and wholesome time that I’m sure the family will remember from this special season of the year. This was my 1-hour Family Photoshoot package which was perfect for the young family.

Below are some kind words from Emily about their experience and further down are some extended highlights from the session.

“Maisie was very friendly and fantastic with my children, putting us all at ease and making us feel comfortable. At times it was easy to forget Maisie was there to take photographs as the whole experience was so fun and laid back due to the trust she built with us all and the candid style of photography Maisie offers.
We are so pleased with the beautiful photos, a quick turn around and a professional result, we cannot recommend Maisie highly enough :)”

As a documentary family photographer, my Day-in-the-Life family photoshoots do not have the same approach as traditional family photography.

My objective is to capture natural, unposed moments - creating a story of the family’s life exactly as it is. This means that I give no direction - I simply allow you to go about your family life and I capture raw, candid moments.

My photoshoots take place in the family’s surroundings, like their home, or a beautiful outdoor location they share a love of being together in. I aim to be as unobtrusive as possible, observing and capturing moments as they naturally unfold. My style is about re-telling genuine memories through images and the essence of each unique family.

My clients are drawn to this approach of family photography because it holds importance to true, emotive moments over posed, picture-perfect shots. It's creating an honest legacy, not just to look back on how the family looked at that time, but more importantly, how life felt. These photographs piece together a heartfelt story of a family’s time together, stitching a broad array of emotions and situations into an authentic portrayal of family life.

Just like my Documentary Wedding Photography, I find documenting families with this approach very fulfilling. Everyone is relaxed and there is no pressure which is especially important for children who want to feel free to explore and have fun in their environment.
