Documenting Margaret’s 90th Birthday Party

On the final Saturday of February, when storm Eunice was in full force, it was a joy to take shelter in the quaint Flamborough Village Hall to document a couple of hours of Margaret’s 90th Birthday celebrations.

Travelling from both north and south of the country, Margaret was joined by all generations of her family to be together on this milestone birthday.

The Photofilm - Margaret’s 90th Birthday

As a candid photographer, my approach is to be unobtrusive and capture moments as they happen naturally.

There was a buffet of sandwiches and cakes which everyone enjoyed. A lovely slideshow was put together by one of the family members displaying photos from Margaret’s wonderful 90 years.

The adults chatted, the kids played; excited to be around family that they don’t see everyday. They helped grandma blow out the candles on her cake as the rest of the family watched and photographed the moment; it was very sweet to capture.

At the end of the session, we spent a short time doing group shots. As well as individual group photos, I love to capture one big shot of everyone that attended the event; it really sums up what a wholesome, special time it was for the family and serves as another treasured memory for all to look back on.

It was a pleasure to put together a set of images that authentically tell the story of Margaret’s birthday for her and her family.
